That’s why we have gathered in this section the Frequently asked questions that we receive from our clients, with clear and concise answers that will help you better understand the different immigration procedures in Spain.

  • Spouse, as long as you are not legally or factually separated
  • Children of the resident and/or children of the resident's spouse, including adopted children UNDER 18 YEARS OLD or people with disabilities
  • First-degree ascendants of the resident and/or spouse OVER 65 years old
  • SOCIAL ARRAIGO:
    • Proving continuous residence in Spain for 3 years
    • No criminal record in Spain and country of origin
    • Job offer of at least 1 year
    • Proving family ties with other foreigners or providing a social integration report (arraigo report)
  • TRAINING ARRAIGO:
    • Proving continuous residence in Spain for 2 years
    • No criminal record in Spain and country of origin
    • Completion of an official training course
  • If you hold a temporary residence and work permit, less than six months within a one-year period
  • If you hold a long-term residence permit, less than twelve consecutive months
  • If you hold EU citizen residence, less than six months in a year
  • If you hold a permanent residence permit, less than two consecutive years
  • Legal, continuous, and immediately preceding residence before the application
    • Ten years: General term.
    • Five years: For those who hold refugee status.
    • Two years: For nationals of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, or people of Sephardic origin.
    • One year:
      • a) Those born in Spanish territory.
      • b) Those who did not properly exercise their right to acquire Spanish nationality by option.
      • c) Those who have been legally under the guardianship, custody, or foster care of a Spanish citizen or institution for two consecutive years, even if they remain in this situation at the time of the application,
      • d) Those who, at the time of the application, have been married for one year to a Spanish citizen and are not legally or factually separated,
      • e) The widow or widower of a Spanish citizen, if at the time of the spouse's death they were not separated, either de facto or legally,
      • f) Those born outside Spain to a father or mother, grandfather or grandmother, provided that all of them were originally Spanish
  • Those who cannot read and/or write
  • Foreigners with learning difficulties (over 70 years old and disabled persons)
  • Applicants who have been enrolled in Spain and have successfully completed compulsory secondary education (ESO). Important: ESO obtained in Spanish institutions abroad would not be valid
  • Minors of school age
  • Persons whose capacity has been judicially modified.

If you are a resident in Spain and have a driving license issued in your country of origin, you can exchange it for an equivalent Spanish license (always handing in the original) when there is an agreement with your country of origin: Switzerland, Andorra, Korea, Japan, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Morocco, Chile, Algeria, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Bolivia, Philippines, Guatemala, Brazil, Serbia, El Salvador, Turkey, Ukraine, Tunisia, North Macedonia, Nicaragua, Monaco, Panama, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and New Zealand
